quick sewing project

April 21, 2010 at 2:15 pm (Ayla, Sewing)

For Ayla’s birthday I bought her a very cute bag…this one from MushyBug on Etsy (my favorite site).  Well after all the sewing that I had done for Ayla’s birthday party favors I was actually itching to do even more sewing.  I couldn’t believe it but I really wanted to make something else.

I’ve had a couple of Ayla’s cute shirts that definitely don’t fit her anymore.   This particular one was an 18 month shirt.  But I’ve always loved it and didn’t want to get rid of it, so I came up with making it into a purse.  Obviously I didn’t come up with the design myself.  It’s very similar to the MushyBug purse but not exactly.  Ayla loves it 🙂

Eva’s Bridal Shower Banner

April 13, 2010 at 11:17 am (Craft, Family, Party)

For Ayla’s first birthday I had bought a banner for the big family birthday party that I had planned.  When I got the banner my first thought was I could’ve made this”.  I haven’t had the opportunity until now, for my sister’s bridal shower, to even attempt making one.   This is what I came up with.

Ayla’s Birthday Party Favors

April 13, 2010 at 10:36 am (Ayla, Birthday, Party, Sewing)

So finally my very crazy weekend is over.  I had Ayla’s birthday party on Saturday April 10th, it was a pottery painting party.  On April 11th I had my sister’s Bridal Shower……..CRAZY.  I’ll have to post seperately on both.   For now I wanted to post pictures of the finished favors that I had made for Ayla’s Party.  These Art Cases were such a big hit.  I know that the kids just take whatever you give to them but once the parents saw them they all came up to me and let me know how great they thought they were.   I’m so glad that they appreciated my hard work.

my newest project

March 11, 2010 at 12:02 pm (Sewing)

I’ve decided to make these as favors for the kids coming to Ayla’s birthday party. This is just a rough first draft that I made to see if I could actually make this patttern. I bought the pattern on an Etsy shop. I love it because not only does it have a pad of paper and crayons for drawing but it also has chalk cloth which surprisingly works GREAT, just like a chalkboard.  I think if I can actually pull this off it will be the best favors!

my little minnie mouse

ayla minnie mouse
After much contemplation of what costume I was going to buy Ayla I decided on Minnie Mouse. In my past post about all the different costumes I liked, I had found a cute Minnie Mouse costume.   It was in the traditional red and black colors but when I went to the Disney Store I saw this adorable pink version…I fell in love with it.  Right there and then I decided  this would be Ayla’s 2009 Halloween costume!!!  I loved the way it looked on her!!!

GREAT progress

October 26, 2009 at 1:34 pm (Ayla)

Ayla is making great progress with the potty training this past week.  Back in July I wrote a post about starting but we didn’t have much success.  Then in August I wrote a post about possibly buying some potty books that maybe would get her excited about going in the potty, still we didn’t have much luck.  I do have to say we didn’t give it  100% effort, so I guess it really wasn’t her fault.  I think in the summer she  just wasn’t ready.  But the last week has been different.  Starting on Tuesday we went full force with the potty training.  No diapers during the day, only at night for bedtime.  She was doing ok…a little frustrated in the beginning (she also had a cold so that didn’t help).  But Friday night we started her with this potty chart and it did the trick.  She was so excited.  She gets a sticker for every time she goes in the potty and at certain points she gets a present.  This potty chart is working like a charm.  We are so proud of Ayla….she is doing AWESOME!!!

baby blanket

baby blanket

Today was my day off and I’ve been dying to do a little sewing project,  especially since I rarely get to do any sewing at all.  I tried  to look for something that I thought would be fast and rewarding once finished.  So I whipped up this little blanket and pillow for Ayla’s baby doll.  I really like the way it came out!!!

my new toy

blackberry tourLast night I got the Blackberry Tour.  I’ve been wanting to get a Blackberry FOREVER but I had to wait until my 2 years contract was up.  The price for this phone is ridiculous if you’re not signing a new contract.  But finally I was able to get it.  Now all I have to do is figure this thing out….there is so much to it compared to my old phone.

But so far I LOVE IT!!!

make over

backyardigan flip open sofa

I just found a really cool idea for making over this Backyardigan flip out couch.  It was one of the many gifts that Ayla got for her first Christmas.  Back then she LOVED LOVED the Backyardigans but she is so over them now.  She is mostly into Dora right now but I definitely don’t plan on replacing this one for a Dora one.

I came across this blog with the idea of making over the little couch.  I absolutely love the idea.  Now all I have to figure out is what fabric to use (nothing with a character) and the time when to do it.   I really hope that I can do it.

bedOMG…I’m so tired.  Last night was a HORRIBLE night of sleep.  Ayla decided to wake up at 2:30 am and I couldn’t really go back to sleep after that.  Right now all I can think about is going home and getting into bed… but of course that can’t happen.  I have to take care of a certain little girl that probably had a 2 hour nap today and will want to play when she gets home.
